Sailing Waipio Valley

Several years ago, my wife and I journeyed into Waipio Valley on the Big Island to enjoy a quiet Thanksgiving Day. It was a stellar day, and for most of it there was this small outrigger canoe peacefully sailing up, down, and across the stream. I made sketches, took some photos, and used them to create this late afternoon painting. The POV is looking upstream from the mouth of Wailoa Stream just before it flows into the ocean.
